The Rolex Submariner Date ref. 16610 is the classic 40mm steel diver that defined the "pre-Super Case" era, produced from 1988 to 2010. It features a black anodized aluminum bezel insert (rather than the later ceramic Cerachrom), a slimmer case profile with thinner lugs, and the legendary Caliber 3135. It replaced the 16800 and was succeeded by the 116610.
